Community Engagement Officer - Events
Part-time (38 hours per week approx. 40 weeks per annum). *
Position Description
POSITION: Community Engagement Officer - Events.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Business Manager through Head of Community Engagement.
REPORTS TO: Head of Community Engagement.
KEY FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Staff, Parents, Community Members.
Position Purpose
The Events Officer plays a key role in planning, coordinating, and delivering high-quality events that reflect Fairholme College’s values and foster community engagement. This role forms part of the Community Engagement team, which oversee all College marketing, communications, events, and engagement activities in support of the College’s strategic direction. A key component of this role includes the implementation and management of College event sponsorship programs to enhance community partnerships and support event success.
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning and Coordination
- Execute College event plans including working to timelines, budgets, and logistics requirements;
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to ensure successful event delivery;
- Ensure all events align with the College’s brand, values, and restorative practices.
Sponsorship Program Management
- Manage event sponsorship programs to support College events;
- Identify and engage potential sponsors, ensuring alignment with College values;
- Maintain sponsor relationships and deliver agreed benefits and recognition.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with staff, students, parents, and alumni to deliver College functions and events;
- Build strong relationships with community partners, sponsors, and service providers.
Marketing and Communications
- Work within the Community Engagement team to assist in event promotion;
- Contribute to the preparation of event materials including invitations, programs, signage and collateral.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure all events comply with child safety, WHS, and College policies;
- Conduct risk assessments and manage contingency planning.
Required Skills
- Qualifications in event management or related field desirable but not essential;
- Proven experience in event management, preferably in an educational or community setting;
- Experience in sponsorship acquisition and relationship management;
- Strong organisational and project management skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities;
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully within a school environment;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (preferred, but not essential);
- Flexibility to work at events outside of standard business hours required.
Other Duties
The Principal may require the Community Engagement Officer - Events to undertake other duties from time to time (subject to the person’s ability to perform such duties) and in keeping with their role.

- The ability to work collaboratively with work colleagues, and to communicate clearly and enthusiastically with staff, students, and families.

Workplace Health and Safety
As a member of the College, the successful applicant is required to follow all workplace, health and safety requirements that include but are not limited to:
- Adherence to and working knowledge of policy requirements;
- Cooperation with audit, professional learning and training/drill processes;
- Meticulous attention to reporting responsibilities and record-keeping obligations in relation to all workplace, health and safety matters.

Selection Process
The interview panel will review applications and determine a short list. Non successful candidates will be advised via email once the interview process has been completed and the successful candidate appointed.
