College House System
The House System was introduced into the Boarding School in 1936 and was extended to the Day School in the following year.
Each girl was allocated to one of the three houses - W.R. Black House, S.G. Stephens House and Cameron House, named after three benefactors of the College.
Many sporting and cultural activities were held among the Houses, each striving to win the H.D. Hatton Cup for overall excellence in Inter-House Competition. Today the Houses also compete for the Joyce Jackson Memorial Trophy for Academic Achievement; the Eulebah Cup for Sporting Achievement and the Spreydon Shield for Cultural Achievement.
There has always been a fine tradition of House spirit. Competition at the Inter-House level gives many students the opportunity to participate in many activities. A fourth house, Powell, was formed in 1959.
