The Position
Position: Learn To Swim Teacher
Responsible To: Business Manager through the Aquatics Centre Manager
Reports To: the Aquatics Centre Manager
The Person
Fairholme College seeks the services of a suitably qualified Learn to Swim Teacher/Swim Coach. You must have a passion for helping children learn, be warm, honest, and genuine. Commencement date will be negotiated with a successful candidate.
Fairholme Aquatics Swim School delivers an aquatic education program with a strong emphasis on sound swimming technique.
Swimmers progress through an 8-level curriculum, based on quality rather than quantity. Skill development is promoted by allowing swimmers to practice skills learned during their classes and extending them as they master each new skill. Our goal is to have children graduate from our program with good skills and competency in every stroke, and to be able to demonstrate the rules and turns for each of the four strokes.
Classes are available in the following categories:
- Infant Classes
- Levels 1 to 4
- Levels 5 and 6
- Beginner Squad and Mini Squad
Infant and Preschool/coaching qualifications would be highly desirable. This position is a casual position working Morning, Afternoon classes and school holidays. There may be an opportunity to work some school hours. Must be willing to work Saturday mornings.

B. Qualifications and Related Skills
Mandatory:
- Blue Card – The applicant must hold a current ‘blue card’.
- AUSTSWIM or Swim Australia Teaching qualification (or willing to obtain)
- CPR.
C. Communication Skills
- The ability to work collaboratively, and to communicate clearly and enthusiastically with students and work colleagues.
- An ability to support and enact a restorative practices approach to conflict resolution is required.

Selection Process
The interview panel will review applications and determine a short list. Non successful candidates will be advised via email once the interview process has been completed and the successful candidate appointed.
