LexArt Studio is the name I have given my art practice which emerged after a health scare in 2009. Art gave me an outlet for self-expression and creative experimentation and helped me regain the joy of living. As a self-taught artist, I love to experiment with different mediums and techniques and my art is always evolving and changing. I create in a naive style, with a focus on small details as it expresses a playfulness and less serious side to life. Summer Storm

Artist: Bella Baldwin

Price: $1,200

Artist Statement:

‘Summer Storm’ explores the tension between sky and land using thick layers of oil paint and palette knife textures. Through impasto, I aimed to capture the weight and energy of storm clouds overpowering the golden fields beneath their looming presence.

Artist Bio:

I’m a farm girl who grew up between Brookstead and Millmerran and went to school at St Ursula’s. My love for the richness of oil paint began early, but it was selling my work in London that gave me the confidence to explore new subject matter and push my practice further. I’ve exhibited at the Mall Galleries’ annual Covent Garden show and featured at art fairs across London’s Southbank. Despite that journey, I’ve never forgotten my roots — my favourite subject now is the sweeping skies and golden crop fields of the Darling Downs that shaped me.

Running up that Hill

Artist: Krystal Bradford

Price: $2,000

Artist Statement:

My work is rooted in the tension between movement and stillness, change and return. I explore what it means to not settle—to be constantly shifting, redirected, and reshaped by forces both internal and external. The land plays a central role in this journey. It holds memory. It guides. It is both compass and witness, mapping out forgotten pathways while anchoring me in the present. In many ways, my practice is a reflection of disconnection—feeling adrift, pushed back and forth by the weight of life, like running while standing still. There is beauty and chaos in that imbalance. Sometimes I am propelled forward without control. Other times, I find stillness in unexpected places. In the quiet of home. In the echo of familiar ground.

Artist Bio:
Krystal, with 23 years in the arts industry, she actively engages in both contemporary and commercial art scenes. As a secondary art teacher and Head of Department, she has found success in teaching and exhibiting across Brisbane's dynamic arts landscape. With a fully functional art studio, Krystal is poised to transition her art career into a full-time profession, continuing her teaching, practice and workshops through 2025.

Just keep swimming 1

Artist: Gina Debinski

Price: $495

Artist Statement:

Observation, summer 2025.

Artist Bio:

My career began after completing a Bachelor of Education in Art & Craft with major studies in Textile design & Metalwork. With a strong interest in the fashion industry and a special interest in knitwear and textile design I was lured to New York and developed into a successful knitwear designer. I worked for a number of companies in the USA including Liz Claiborne accessories and later Jennifer Reed where I had the opportunity to design private label for many major department stores including Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Saks and Nordstrom. My love for fashion and accessories, colour and design inspired me to open my own retail stores in Melbourne when I returned to Australia. I spent the next 10 years running my own retail stores. In 2014, after a 10-year hiatus I returned to my first love, painting. I now work as a full-time artist.

I have always loved colour, fashion, and design and this has been reflected in everything I have done throughout my varied career. I now express myself through painting, which I could probably do 24 hours a day if life didn't get in the way. Inspired by observations of everyday life and my photography, my figurative works express a relaxed and relatable realism. Using simple lines and layers of acrylic paint I build a familiar scene in a contemporary style. Lately, I have focused on water-soaked canvases with figures in mid-motion. I focus on movement in a modern play of light and shade.

Skies the Limit

Artist: Poppy Doyle

Price: $200

Artist Statement:

This image captures a fleeting moment where light and atmosphere converge in quiet drama. The soft ember tones of the clouds are suspended in transition - neither day nor night, storm nor calm - symbolising a liminal space between the known and the possible. With ‘Skies the Limit’ I wanted to reflect on the duality of stillness and movement, presence and impermanence. The clouds, illuminated by the setting sun, mirror the emotional landscape we carry within: always shifting, sometimes heavy, sometimes light, but always beautiful in its unpredictability. This piece invites the viewer to pause and look up - literally and metaphorically. To find wonder in the sky’s ever - changing canvas, and to remember that above us, there is always room to dream.

Artist Bio:

My name is Poppy Doyle and I am an 11-year-old emerging artist with a big imagination and a love for capturing the world through her lens. Ever since I can remember, I have loved being creative - whether it's through drawing, painting, or taking photos. I find inspiration in everyday moments, especially the sky, nature, and the little things that often go unnoticed. Even though I’m still very young, I’m excited to keep learning, exploring, and expressing myself through art and photography. For me, creating is a way to share how I see the world - curious, colourful, and full of wonder.

Daisy

Artist: Dominique Haddin

Price: $550

Artist Statement:

School Mascot inspired artwork. Daisy was created with colour pencil on paper.

Artist Bio:

After many years of entering the Facets of Fairholme using a stippling technique, I decided to test my artistic abilities and add a bit of colour to my pieces. I swapped the black pen for some coloured pencils to try something new. I have loved experimenting and creating hyper realistic pieces and loved the different texture and shine that comes with it. I am enjoying a splash of colour and the smoothness that you can get from pencil. Over the years I have dabbled with paints, pen and pencil, loving all of them but still experimenting with all. I am a teacher, mother and wife and as most artists know it is hard to find the time to create when you are in the right ‘head space’. With many years of art techniques behind me but with little time to create, it has been refreshing to try something new to exhibit at the Facets of Fairholme. I hope it is enjoyed as much as I have enjoyed creating it.

I Know The Way

Artist: Helen Lange

Price: $950

Artist Statement:

This piece is a reflection of a place that exists somewhere between memory and imagination. I aimed to capture the soft, hazy quality of a dream — where landscapes blur, light glows a little too warmly, and time feels suspended. It’s less about representing a real location and more about evoking a feeling: calm, distant, and quietly hopeful. Through layered brushwork and muted tones, I wanted to invite the viewer into a space where they can wander, pause, and perhaps reconnect with their own inner landscapes.

Lost in the Lines

Artist: Helen Lange

Price: $1,100

Artist Statement:

This wall sculpture captures the raw, unfiltered essence of thought through the simplicity of a scribble. What often starts as a spontaneous mark on paper is transformed here into a dynamic, three-dimensional form. The fluidity of the lines invites the viewer to engage with the chaotic beauty of the creative process, where meaning is not predetermined but instead emerges through the act of expression. The sculpture blurs the boundary between drawing and sculpture, offering a visual representation of the subconscious, where every twist and turn tells a story that is both personal and universal. It is a celebration of the imperfect, the unfinished, and the freedom found in letting go of control.

Tall Stories

Artist: Katrina O’Shannessy

Price: $600

Artist Statement:

Being a teacher I have heard some fantastic stories, the best is the Preps. This painting was inspired by a conversation I had with the little ones and their convincing statements that coloured milk comes from coloured cows. So ‘Tall Stories’ was formed. The dairy industry is a significate part of the Australian way of life. I remember as a kid always going to the Kenilworth Dairy and my parents use to always buy us their chocolate or strawberry milks and my parents telling us stories about those milks the same as what the Preps were telling me. So I thought I would include the mapping of Kenilworth in the background of each painting to bring back those memories.

Artist Bio:

I am an emerging artist residing in Wondai. Having been selected for the Emerging Artists exhibition by the Flying Arts 2024 & 2025 I have been recognized for my ability to use a variety of artistic materials to produce hyper realistic artwork. I enjoy working on pieces that are inspired by the natural environment. I don’t have a preferred medium but rather enjoy the challenge of spontaneously picking up a medium and running with it.

The Red Centre

En Pointe

Artist: Matilda Paffey

My artwork was originally created as a school assignment. It was made through the use of graphite pencils and portrays the use of realism to display an image of ballet shoes. Artist Bio:

Matilda Paffey is a Year 11 student at Fairholme College. Her artwork is a realistic drawing of ballet shoes, this piece is drawn entirely through the use of graphite pencils. Am I all the places I’ve been

Artist: Johanna Park

Price: $1,045

Artist Statement:

The drawing is a reflection on the extent to which our identities are moulded by the places we inhabit. The mental landscape of memory is informed by our various experiences of different spatial contexts, so the challenge for the contemporary artist is to create a compelling image from these fragments.

Artist Bio:

Melding familiar imagery into new memory images and objects, Toowoomba-based artist Johanna Park’s work explores the built structures of everyday experience. Recognising the connection between memory-making and the frame of architectural place, Park uses various processes to embody and enhance these fragmented mental images. Currently in the final stages of completing her PhD, her central research objective is to demonstrate how art can be used to reclaim memory from the escalating forgetfulness of contemporary culture.

Vista #17

Artist: Laura Phillips

Price: $1,000

Artist Statement:

This work is a combination of two of my favourite painting subjects – still life & landscape. Overall, this painting refers to my fifteen years living in the country. The magnolia flowers grew in a large pot and the passionfruit grew in pure cow manure unattended for ten years. The seeds were given to me by my father.

Artist Bio:

My love of the visual arts began in my childhood when my father began teaching me copperplate writing at the age of three. He also taught me how to make plaster of paris models. These were painted in bright colours. And my mother taught me many crafts & also took me to many concerts e.g. Cossack dancers, flamenco, the Osipov ballet. When I moved to Canberra I attended the Canberra School of Art where I majored in ceramics & sculpture.

Tulips & Agave

Artist: Laura Phillips

Price: $1,000

Artist Statement:

I love to imagine plants growing happily beside companions that seem dissimilar. Agaves grew madly in the country where I lived & when a friend gave me a bunch of tulips, I could not resist making a composition of the two wonders of the natural world.

Artist Bio:

Water Girl

Artist: Lacey Pohle

Price: $1,000

Artist Statement:

This oil painting shows a girl in water, water girl, symbolizing how both water and art connect us all. Just like painting does, the ocean reflects emotion, memory, and movement. Using oil paints, I explored how art, like water, can express what words often can’t. This connection feels personal.

Artist Bio:

I’m a 15-year-old artist in Year 10 and have been attending art school since 2018, when I was eight. I work across many mediums, always aiming to improve, but I feel most connected to oil painting. My main focus is portraiture because I want to honour the people I love through my art. The people in my life mean everything to me and painting them allows me to express who I am and what matters most.

Constant 34

Artist: Tracey Pope

Price: $550

Artist Statement:

There are over 80 pattern sequences you can use to attain the constant 34 in Durer’s magic square. Can the balanced, controlled purity of his mathematical construct withstand the idiosyncrasies imposed by the earthy human hand as it is translated into visual code using line, shape and colour?

Artist Bio:

Growing up as part of an artistically inclined family, I enjoy exploring the world around me through the Arts. Teaching art is an avenue which constantly inspires and enlightens me. Picasso once said, ‘Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.’ Unfortunately, I have grown up. My current phase tasks me with presenting work in a more unrefined and unapologetic manner.

Artist Bio:

Clare Purser is a Brisbane-based Artist and Art Educator with the Brisbane Institute of Art. Central to her practice is en plein air painting - seeking to connect people with the landscape through painting and drawing. A primary theme of her work is the environment, with a particular focus on the ecologies of Moreton Bay. Clare holds an Honours degree from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. Tarkine Wilderness

Artist: Leigh Shutter

Price: $1,370

Artist Statement:

The Tarkine wilderness is a place of extraordinary primal beauty, a place to value, silently imploring us all to commit to protecting the diminishing natural environment. ‘Painted’ on an iPad, the work offers the allusion of ‘photo realism’ perhaps reminiscent of historical works but dissolves into an abstract aesthetic of marks and gestures as the viewer draws near: a rich visceral representation capturing the sense of the wild untamed sprawling rainforest.

Artist Bio:

Academic, architect and artist, ‘drawing and painting’ landscapes is an expanded creative direction since retiring from academia. I am interested in the intersection between ‘realism’ and abstraction, traditional and new techniques in the representation of the landscape and how that influences our engagement and valuing of those environments.

Corpus non sacrificium

(the body is not a sacrifice)

Artist: Cara-Ann Simpson

Price: $5,000

Artist Statement:

Using symbolism and beauty’s guise, I comment on the female body and environment’s control and sacrifice. Male voices dominate women’s reproductive rights re-politicisation. Similar voices control Earth’s environment. Time calls for this masculine battleground to transform into an aesthetic of care. The body, Earth or woman, is not a sacrifice.

Artist Bio:

Cara-Ann Simpson is an interdisciplinary artist based on the lands of the Wakka Wakka nation, southern Queensland. Her practice explores sensory perception, environmental interaction, plants, memory and deep listening. Simpson won the Heysen Prize for Landscape 2022, University of Ballarat Emerging Artist Award 2012, and Hobday and Hingston Bursary 2007 (QAGOMA). Puss

Artist: Carolyn Wishart

Price: $450

Artist Statement:

My favourite medium is graphite pencil. I love the challenge of creating an image that is realistic, but also one that has been simplified with its lack of colour. I compare it to a beautiful black and white photograph.

Artist Bio:

Currently based in Toowoomba, I’m a creator and lover of anything art or craft - it’s what my childhood was made of and I loved it. I am a former display artist. I spent years hand building and painting oversized props for shopping centre displays. I learnt to signwrite, screenprint & design graphics. My personal art life is ever evolving. I love bright and colourful acrylics, loose and subtle watercolours and the slow pace of realism drawing. I’ve exhibited in the Downlands College Art Show, Toowoomba Grammar Art Exhibition and won the competition for the cover image of the 2018 Visitor Guide (The Chronicle Garden Competition). I’m also involved in the Carnival of Flowers parade (designing and creating the Toowoomba Regional Council float each year). I don’t take myself too seriously & I love to laugh.

Hidden Gem

Artist Statement:

Quietly perched up on a little south Lismore Hill, at the end of a no-through road, this quaint old weatherboard sits in quiet beauty away from passing public. It made me think about the lives once lived under the old tin roof and the stories forever held within those aging timber walls.
