The Position
POSITION: Co-ordinator of High Performance Sport Coaching.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal through Head of Sport
REPORTS TO: Head of Sport, Head of Physical Education
KEY FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Coaching staff; Junior School Sports Co-ordinator; teachers; students; boarding staff; parents.
The Person
We seek a committed, highly professional and appropriately qualified Co-ordinator of High-Performance Sport Coaching wanting to join the College community within the Sports and Physical Education Departments. Particularly, we seek a person with a demonstrated background in high performance sport coaching and an avid interest in sport, physical activity and approaches to enhancing student sport performance, particularly through maximising coaching standards at the College. A part-time teaching load in the area of Physical Education as well as coaching sporting teams forms an integral part of the role.

Ethos, Values and Culture
- Demonstrate support for and demonstrate personal alliance with the College’s Christian values and ethos.
- Be a positive and engaged member of the Sport and Physical Education Departments – someone who enjoys working collaboratively.
- Show an active interest in, experience with, and/or support for the delivery of quality girls’ education.
- Have clear experience with/ or interest in the specific needs of boarding students and their families and experience working with them in and out of the classroom.
- Demonstrated experience in management and leadership of others, specifically within a high-performance coaching setting; and…
Coaching Expertise
- Have recent and significant experience and qualifications as a high-level coach or as part of a coaching team – involvement in the areas of Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming would be looked upon favourably. Experience in other sport disciplines will also be considered.
- Be both keen and able to coach across a spectrum of Fairholme aligned sports and sporting teams.
- Be knowledgeable and current regarding best practice in developing programs for fitness training and skill development across a diversity of sports – particularly as is relevant to girls and adolescents.
- Be well-connected within the Sports Coaching field and able to source and lead professional learning opportunities for College coaching staff.
- Have the ability to mentor and develop the skills of other coaches both within and outside of one’s areas of expertise and experience.
- Have strong administrative and communication skills and be competent in dissemination of information through a range of media – newsletter articles, emails, phone, Assemblies, or team gatherings.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing other coaches to achieve high level results within their sport programs.
Pedagogical Expertise
- Be a passionate teacher, with interest and experience in the field of Physical Education and is able to inspire and engage students through a repertoire of diverse pedagogical strategies.
- Be well-organised and innovative in approach to teaching and learning practices.
- Undertake timely processes and procedures in relation to reporting and assessment.
- Demonstrate ability to and interest in differentiating curriculum to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Show the ability to work with the College’s Learning Management System - Schoolbox, along with a willingness to utilise these frameworks to underpin and strengthen practices within the classroom setting is fundamental to the role.

Workplace Health and Safety
As a member of the College staff are required to follow all workplace, health and safety requirements that include but are not limited to:
- Adherence to and working knowledge of policy requirements;
- Cooperation with audit, professional learning and training/drill processes;
- Meticulous attention to reporting responsibilities and record-keeping obligations in relation to all workplace, health and safety matters.
Other Duties
The Principal may require the Co-ordinator of High Performance Sport Coaching to undertake other duties from time to time, in areas which they are duly qualified (subject to the person’s ability to perform such duties) and in keeping with their role.

The Package
The appointment is currently under the conditions of the 2026 Fairholme College Enterprise Agreement and will attract proportional time release and remuneration commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, experience and expertise.

Selection Process
