For the commencement of the Prep school year, the girls in Prep must be accompanied to the Prep classroom and collected from the Prep classroom by an adult.

If uncertain, please go to the Junior School office and our administration staff will escort you to your classroom.

New starters during the school year should go to the Junior School office, where you will be met by a buddy and escorted to class.

Kindy students will go directly to their Kindy classroom, which they will be familiar with from their enrolment tour and Kindy entry interview.

To reduce congestion at the start and end of the school day, we encourage parents to use the designated drop-off and pick-up zones at the front of the Rotunda adjacent to the front car park accessed from the Wirra Wirra Street car park entrance, and adhere to the staggered pick-up times outlined below.

    > Kindy - 3pm

    > Junior School - from 3.10pm

The pick up lane has a maximum wait time of five minutes. If you arrive too early, and your daughter is not ready to be picked up, you will be requested to move on.

When utlising on-street parking in the area, please be considerate of our local residents and observe all traffic rules.

Please notify the Prep teacher in writing or by email should and adult other than a parent be involved in bringing or collecting your daughter.

  • What are the key dates?

Events noted on the Term Dates overview are events which involve all students.

Our term dates are published for the College Community at least 6 months prior to the beginning of the new school year and we thank all families for noting these dates and booking any family holidays or trips during the term breaks so that all students can complete the full learning expectations each year.

You will find the Term Dates document within the myFairholme parent portal and available for download on our Events page.

  • Does my daughter need a laptop?

Girls in Years 4 to 6 use laptops in their daily learning experiences.

Laptops are purchased by, and remain the property of the College. The ICT Acceptable Use  Policy is located on myFairholme.

These will be issued by the College and a general purpose levy will be charged to your account. This brings the Junior School in line with Middle and Senior School laptop usage.

Laptops will be supplied by the College, have Microsoft Office suite products installed, with IT support by our College IT staff. Laptops will remain at school, in the classroom.

  • How does Fairholme communicate with its families?

  • How do I contact my daughter's teacher?

Due to their teaching commitments during the day, teachers prefer initial contact from parents via email.

Email addresses at Fairholme are [email protected]

Please be aware that we do not expect our teachers to respond to emails out of hours.

You are welcome to email your daughter's teachers to arrange a face-to-face meeting or phone call if necessary.

Parent/Student/Teacher interviews for Prep to Year 6 students are held at the start of Terms 2, 3 and 4. Bookings are made by accessing myFairholme - Parent Teacher Interviews

  • Who do I contact if my daughter is upset about something?

We encourage parents to contact their daughter’s class teacher in the first instance. Email is the best method of contact initially and a face-to-face meeting or phone call can be arranged if required.

If the concern is of a more serious nature, please be in contact with the Deputy Head of Junior School.

  • What do I do if my daughter is absent from school?

    Absence due to illness

We encourage Day student parents to use the Absentee button on the MyFairholme App.

This can be used if your daughter is unwell for a day or two due to illness, or if she needs to arrive late or be collected during the day for a medical appointment.

Absentees can also be emailed to [email protected], or phone the Junior School Office on 4688 4647 before 9am.

Junior School Office staff will phone parents to check on the whereabouts of a student if contact has not been made by the parent.

    Extended absences

If your daughter is expected to have an extended absence for family reasons, leave needs to be requested from the Head of Junior. Please email [email protected]

  • What Co-Curricular opportunities are available in the Junior School?

Fairholme Junior offers a wide variety of cultural, sporting and academic Co-Curricular activities throughout the year.

Prior to the start of each term, a Co-Curricular Calendar is published on the Junior School Parent Info page of myFairholme, and as a news item.

The calendar will outline the activity, day, date, teacher in charge, and which year level the activity is for.

For specialist Arts tuition in instrumental music, piano, singing and Speech and Drama lessons, please complete the Arts Tuition Application form available on the Junior Arts webpage. Parents are invoiced directly for these activities.

For more information, visit Junior Arts and Junior Sport

  • Is there a tuckshop?

Fairholme College does not have a tuckshop, however we do offer a dining room lunch (the same as provided to our boarding students) Monday to Friday, at a cost of $5 per day. This includes morning tea and lunch.

While special dietary requirements can be catered for, e.g. gluten free, individual preferences are not.

In the Junior School, this is known as Fairholme Fare.

Meals are ordered and paid for online via myFairholme. Meals can be ordered in Week 1 for the whole term or alternatively ordered weekly. The menu is updated weekly and posted to Happenings@Holme on a Tuesday.

Fairholme Fare will not be available Week 1 of each term and the final school day of each term.

  • When are school camps held?

During the year, Year 3 to 6 students attend a year-level camp. These are hosted off campus (apart from the Year 3 onsite sleepover) and are important undertakings which allow the development of a range of skills important to the students' social and emotional growth.

Any associated costs for these camps are included in the College fees.

    > Year 3: overnight 'sleep-in' at the College held in Term 4

    > Years 4 and 5: two-night camp at Alexandra Headland in Term 3

    > Year 6: Week-long tour of Canberra in Term 3
