The College
Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Range escarpment in Australia's Garden City of Toowoomba, Fairholme College is one of Australia's leading independent girls' schools with more than eight hundred students from Kindy to Year 12 and over two hundred boarders form part of the total enrolment.

The Position
Position: Teacher Aide - Student Support
Responsible To: Principal through the Business Manager
Reports To: Head of Learning Enhancement
Key Functional Relationships: Head of Learning Enhancement; Teachers; students; boarding and pastoral staff; and parents
The Person
We seek a committed, professional and appropriately qualified teacher aide wanting to join the College community in the important field of learning support. The ideal candidate will be committed to longevity within the role and possess experience working with students with a variety of complex social and emotional needs.

Working with Children
As a College we are committed to the health and wellbeing of all our members and, in particular the welfare of all students in our care. Workplace Health and Safety
As a member of the College, the successful applicant is required to follow all workplace, health and safety requirements that include but are not limited to:
- Adherence to and working knowledge of policy requirements;
- Cooperation with audit, professional learning and training/drill processes;
- Meticulous attention to reporting responsibilities and record-keeping obligations in relation to all workplace, health and safety matters.
The Position
As a Teacher Aide, under direction of the Head of Pathways and working closely with the Head of Learning Enhancement, you will undertake the following set of key responsibilities and understandings within College operations:
Ethos, Values And Culture
- Demonstrate support for and demonstrate personal alliance with the College’s Christian values and ethos.
- Be skilled at working with students with a range of academic and social emotional needs of students.
- Have interest in all students of the College and particularly for students requiring support in their learning.
- Understand and enact appropriate professional boundaries – especially when working on a one-on-one situation.
Learning Support Expertise
- Work both independently and as a team member in supporting the learning of students requiring support, doing so under the guidance of teaching and/or boarding staff.
- Assist students to gain greater confidence and competence in their learning, and organisation of their learning.
- Have experience in learning support for students in a school setting and be a pivotal member of the team that oversees and engages in student learning support for all students of the College.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the specific needs of students with academic and social emotional needs.
- Demonstrate a proficiency in working with students with complex needs.
- Support Prep (Boarder homework) and Holme Group activities as needed.
Other Requirements
- A current blue card, first aid currency and appropriate teacher aide qualifications are required.
- The Principal may require the Teacher Aide – Student Support to undertake other duties from time to time (subject to the person’s ability to perform such duties) and in keeping with their role.
The Package
The appointment is currently under the conditions of the Fairholme College Certified Agreement and will attract proportional time release and remuneration.

Selection Process
The interview panel will review applications and determine a short list. Non successful candidates will be advised via email once the interview process has been completed and the successful candidate appointed.
