FACETS

CONNECTING COMMUNITY THROUGH ART

In 2017 Fairholme College, celebrated ‘100 Years At Fairholme’ and as a part of the festivities to mark this exciting milestone, an inaugural Art Exhibition, the ‘Facets of Fairholme’, was held at the College. Following on from the success of this boutique exhibition, plans are underway to host another such event in 2024.

Now in its eighth year, ‘Fairholme Open Art Prize – FACETS’, presents a carefully selected and thoughtfully curated presentation by our Curatorial Team that invites a shared conversation, artistic expression, and audience engagement; and it is this, the celebration of Art, Education and Community that have become the focus of this exhibition.

The exhibition provides local, regional, national, and international artists an exciting opportunity to exhibit their works in a refined, boutique setting. Up to 200 works will be exhibited and these works will vie for a number of acquisitive awards.

Submissions for 2024 are open.

Entries close Friday, 12 April 2024.

Guest Judge

We are excited to have Henri van Noordenburg, Project Officer for Regional Services at Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art and a practicing artist, as our guest judge for the Fairholme Open Art Prize. Henri is a Dutch artist who has exhibited extensively throughout Europe.

Henri will be adding his voice in selecting our 3 Acquisitive Awards winners. Henri is an established photographic artist who has developed a new technique of hand carving inkjet prints, a technique similar to the sgraffito process. This unique technique in combination with photography marked a significant change in his art practice.

Curators

Fairholme Open Art Prize is honoured to have Sandy Pottinger (renowned Artists & Art Critic) and Sue Lostroh (Art Galleries & Cultural Services Regional Coordinator at Toowoomba Regional Council) as Curators.

Sue & Sandy along with the Fairholme Open Art Prize committee will select the exhibiting finalists for 2024. The Exhibition dates are 10-12 May 2024 at Fairholme College.
