Boarder Wellbeing

Boarder Service

Fairholme College is underpinned by a strong Christian ethos of service and the joy of giving to others is demonstrated by numerous service contributions by the boarding students to their own and the wider community.

Five student committees operate in the Boarding House including the Boarder Representative Committee, Environment and Communication Committee, Pastoral Care Committee, Recreation Committee and Service Committee. The committees work to enhance the boarding experience for Fairholme boarders.

Boarders the girls have several opportunities throughout the year to contribute or volunteer towards a charity or community project that is important to them.

Service activities and events include sponsoring their World Vision Sponsor Child, volunteering at St Vincent’s Hospital, Riding for Disabled as well as numerous charity fund-raising events, including the Girls Night-In and Biggest Afternoon Tea for The Cancer Council, and themed fundraising dinners for the Mizpah Orphanage and the Cambodia Tour.

A large number of Year 12 boarders participate each year in ‘Shave for a Cure’, cutting off their hair and raising much needed funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.
