Mind The Gap
We have been at Fairholme for over 7 very hot weeks now and it has flown by, we cannot believe it is the Easter holidays in a couple weeks. We think we have got used to the Australian way of life quite quickly and with help from the boarders we are beginning to pick up some Aussie slang.
In the last several weeks we have tried to immerse ourselves in school life as much as possible. This did include Hannah and myself attempting to swim in the swim carnival unfortunately fourth place was all we could manage, however we don’t tell our families back home how teams there were.
We have also run the peak to park run, which I think taught us that even in cloud you can still burn. Each one of us has met girls from all of the school years and got to know many familiar faces, which has helped us, feel more settled.
Fortunately we have been able to go on some of the school excursions to Brisbane and Goomburra National Park. And on our days off we have to tried to explore the local area by visiting Crow’s Nest falls and I think my highlight was going to the Chinchilla Melon festival, which was an experience and quite different to back home. We still have so much to look forward to.
We are all very excited to see the Fairholme Formal, as we have heard so much about it and especially working in the boarding house we have seen the fake tan, make up and hair trials so are looking forward to seeing it all. It will also be interesting to see how it compares to our leavers balls and proms back home in England and America.
