Young Playwright of the Year

Congratulations to Fairhome College Year 12 student, Grace Jarvis, for her success in winning the Queensland Theatre Company ‘Young Playwright of the Year’ for her original Titus Was Here.

Grace was asked to submit her application for the 2015 QTC (Queensland Theatre Company) Young Playwrights’ Award by Toowoomba’s Empire Theatre Youth Arts Director. To her delight, Grace won!

Titus Was Here is a resetting and reworking of Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus, which focuses on the politics of family and friends, power struggles, madness and deceit. It is a modern cautionary tale of revenge and school politics.

Grace hopes to undertake studies in the ‘Creative Industry’ next year and to continue playwriting in the future – watch this space!

To add to Grace’s accomplishment, ‘Titus Was Here’ is to be performed by IMPACT Ensemble at the Empire Theatre Armitage Centre – Heritage Bank Auditorium, Saturday 24 October and Sunday 25 October at 7pm. (Starring none other than Fairholme Student, Grace Lofting). Tickets may be purchased at Empire Theatres ›
