Fairholme Junior Library (FJL)
Our resource library and a key learning space for students, staff and parents in Prep and Years 1 to 6. Before and after school, parents are encouraged to borrow books to share with their children, as well as information resources for parents.
The dynamic environment of Fairholme Junior Library contains an array of spaces which not only help to create an energising learning community, but also stimulate inspiration and creative thinking. The custom-designed library incorporates real and virtual environments, including a storytelling area with an interactive-white board, a research area adjacent to the information books, an e-learning zone with computers for students to access a range of digital resources and learning programs, and spaces for individuals and small groups to enjoy reading, playing and learning.
Accessing Extensive and Diverse Collections in Person and Online
Fairholme Junior Library has an extensive collection containing over 15,000 items available for loan, both in-person and via the College Intranet »). Resources are arranged in the following collections:

Reading during the holidays is encouraged with students expected to borrow extra books between Terms 1, 2, & 3.
A love of literature and the enjoyment of reading is encouraged both in weekly library lessons and when girls visit the library as individuals or in small groups. Within a supportive environment, the girls learn vital information literacy skills necessary to identify, locate, evaluate and effectively use information from a diverse range of print, non-print and digital resources.
To develop students’ literacy skills, girls in Years 4-6 participate in ‘Accelerated Reader’. This program is integrated into the classroom literacy curriculum and the homework program, to enable students to improve their reading ability.
Monday to Friday, 8am to 3.25pm (closed for morning tea 10.30am to 11am, and first half of lunch 12.30pm to 12.55pm).
