About the Fairholme Aquatic's Learn to Swim Program
At Fairholme Aquatics Swim School we aim to provide a comprehensive Learn to Swim and Stroke Correction program. Quality of teaching (all teachers hold nationally recognised qualifications) and belief in good technique are key points to our philosophy.
The 8 level program is designed to link into the Squad Programs.
Fairholme Aquatics Swim School is a nationally registered Swim School with Austswim and Swim Australia. Classes run by term and are available Monday to Saturday mornings and Monday-Friday afternoons.
Infant
Our Infant Classes begin at 6 months of age. Taken by our Austswim (Infants) qualified staff our infant program aims to introduce your child to the Aquatic environment in a fun and nurturing manner.
Using play to develop skills infants participate in a 25 minute lesson with their carer in the water with them. Classes are designed to cater to the individual needs of each child as they progress on their aquatic journey.
Levels 1 to 4
Level 1 to 4 classes hold a maximum of 4 students per class and run for 25 minutes. These classes are held in our skills pool when pool space is available.
Levels 5 & 6
Level 5 & 6 classes hold a maximum of 6 students per class and run for 30 minutes. Moving from Level 5 to Level 6 sees swimmers move from our skills pool to our main pool. In Level 5 several lessons over the course of the term are conducted in our main pool.
Beginner Squad
Our Beginner Squad is the first level of our FASTTrack program transitioning swimmers from learn to swim to our Fairholme Aquatics squad program. Our Beginner Squad classes continue to hold only six swimmers and run for 30 minutes. Swimmers in Beginner Squad are encouraged to swim two to three sessions per week..
Mini Squad
Mini Squad classes are the final level of 'Learn to Swim' at Fairholme Aquatics swim school. These classes take on a more structured squad format and run for 45 minutes with a maximum of 12 students per class. By the conclusion of this level swimmers will be competent in all four strokes as well as understanding starts, turns, and finishes for each of the strokes. Swimmers in the Mini Squad are encouraged to swim two to three sessions per week.
FAST Track
Swimmers in Beginner Squad (Level 7) and Mini Squad (Level 8) are registered as FAST Track members. This program is designed to introduce swimmer to swimming as a sport outside of the learn to swim environment whether it be competitively or for fitness and recreation.
Upon entering the FAST Track program swimmers are given a FAST Track Swimming Bag and Cap as a part of joining this group. Activities and events are planned throughout the year to encourage a smooth transition from Learn to Swim into the Fairholme Aquatics Squad and Swimming Club Programs. It is one of our key components in fostering swimming as your playground for life!

FAST Track members on graduating from Mini Squad also receive a special Graduation Afternoon Tea and Medallion presentation on achieving this goal on the Pathway of Swimming.
