Located within the grounds of Fairholme College, Fairholme Aquatics is home to two well maintained indoor heated pools. The first is an eight lane 25m pool and the second a 10m three lane instruction pool.
At the centre we believe that swimming is your “Playground for Life”, and as a result Fairholme Aquatics provide aquatic programs that enable both College students as well as local community members the opportunity to enjoy the water through all stages of their lives. Through a strong belief in teaching sound techniques, our program aims to educate participants of the joys of playing in an aquatic environment along with survival and life skills.
Our highly trained and dedicated teaching staff are carefully selected to ensure that this philosophy is consistent throughout the program. Our staff members hold nationally and internationally recognised aquatic qualifications through Austswim and the Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association.
So whether you are the parent of a 6 month old, or an active 80 year old who enjoys the water, we have a swim program that is tailor made for you.
National Age and National Open Championships 2013
FAST Swim Club was well represented against Australia’s best with Anthony Lingard, Jack Selman and Julia Algie each making their mark at these prestigious swimming meets. It’s an honour to be eligible to compete and we’re very proud of each of them. While the rest of our FAST swimmers now ease up on training for the cooler months ahead, there’s no rest for the wonderful – Julia will continue a full program leading up to the Deaflympics in Sofia, Bulgaria, to be held July to August 2013.
Fast Swim Club Celebration Dinner
Our annual awards dinner is fast approaching on Friday 17 May, a fun, semi-formal night recognising the achievements and contributions of the many swimmers, parents, volunteers and staff who invest a great deal into our swim program.
Bunnings BBQ
Planning on a trip to Bunnings sometime soon? You’d be doing FAST a huge favour if you swung by on Saturday 25 May!
We’ll be BBQ-ing up a storm and looking to sell as many sausage sizzles and drinks as possible. Also, if you’re a FAST swimmer or parent, we need volunteers to make the most of this V-Op. Please call the Aquatic Centre Front Office to put your name down. Thank you.
At the most recent Queensland Austswim Conference, Fairholme Aquatics Swim School was named Queensland Swim School of the Year for the second year in a row. Another exciting highlight was our Head of Learn to Swim Judy Dickinson was named Queensland Swim Teacher of the Year. Congratulations.
Continuing on from this, we received an award recognising our Summer of Swimming as the Best Swim School Pathway Promotion promoting swimming as a sport in line with our philosophy that Swimming is your playground for life!
More information on the layers of protection can be seen at the Swim Australia web site
At the Swim Australia dinner held on April 30, the importance Fairholme Aquatics places on our philosophy “Swimming is your playground for life” was recognised for the second year running, winning the Best Swim School pathway program for FASTTrack. This program has been developed to help swimmers transition from learn to swim to squads as they progress as swimmers.
