Located within the grounds of Fairholme College, the Aquatic Centre is home to two well maintained indoor heated pools. The first is an eight lane 25m pool and the second a 10m three lane instruction pool.
At the centre we believe that Swimming is your “Playground for Life”, and as a result we provide aquatic programs that enable both students of the College and local community members the opportunity to enjoy the water through all stages of their lives. Through a strong belief in teaching sound techniques, our program aims to educate participants of the joys of playing in an aquatic environment along with survival and life skills.
Our highly trained and dedicated teaching staff are carefully selected to ensure that this philosophy is consistent throughout the program. Our staff members hold nationally and internationally recognised aquatic qualifications through Austswim and the Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association.
So whether you are the parent of a 6 month old or an active 80 year old who enjoys the water; we have a program that is tailor made for you.
Thank you to the Fairholme P&F Association for the wonderful grant offered to the Centre in the form of a covered pergola over our BBQ facility outside the Aquatic Centre. Construction is complete and we are very happy with the result. This lasting asset for Fairholme College is used not only by the Swimming Club but also by the Friends of Sport, Friends of Junior School and other classes within the school. It is lovely to watch the drama girls practice underneath the pergola, out of the weather. Thank you.
Over the past two Friday evenings our FAST Track swimmers from Learn to Swim and our Junior Squad swimmers have been participating in Royal Life Saving sessions at Fairholme Aquatics. Participants have been practising different types of rescues, survival swimming and learning CPR. A timely reminder for parents - Would you know how to perform CPR? Our Head of Learn to Swim is also a qualified presenter through Royal Life Saving and conducts CPR Courses in Term 1 and 4 for parents and at other times depending on demand. Contact nessie@fairholme.qld.edu.au if you are interested in undertaking a course.
This Friday 18 May, over 110 members of the Fairholme Aquatics Swimming Club community will attend the 2011/2012 Annual Celebration Dinner at the Highfields Cultural Centre. We look forward to seeing our swimmers dressed up for the occasion and celebrating their wonderful achievements this season. Well done to all.
