Track and Field:
Congratulations to Ellie Bowyer, Sophia Harper and Samantha Lenton. They have been selected in the Queensland team to contest the Nationals in Townsville later in the year. We wish them well with their training.
Our Junior and Intermediate Girls teams will compete at the National Knockout Cup Final in Townsville on Monday 9 December. Good luck to: Olivia Goodsell, Lindy Roos, Brighid Patterson, Ellie Bowyer, Natalie and Zoe Webster, Annabelle Ronnfeldt, Dominique Du Toit, Mackenzie Andrews, Katie Lowe, Samantha Lenton, Ali Doyle, Chelsea Rose and Sophia Harper! If you are able to assist this trip with sponsorship please contact the Sports Department.
Every year between 20 and 40 Year 12s make the pilgrimage to Perisher Blue. Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to carve some fluffy white stuff but it is also an excellent opportunity to bond one last time as a student group before leaving school.
The cost of the 2014 trip should be approximately $1,900. If you would like to go please email me: me: firstname.lastname@example.org, this month and send a $500 deposit to our Accounts Department.
Fairholme College is always looking for suitably qualified people to coach our girls. If you have relevant, current qualifications in any of the nineteen sports we offer please consider applying for a coaching position in 2014. Advertisements will appear in The Chronicle, the Fairholme web site and Seek.com this month and in January. Interschool sport is on a Wednesday afternoon from 12.30-3pm. Please send a copy of your CV, Blue Card and copies of relevant qualifications to me.
TSSS and DD Trials 2014:
Please be aware that trials for various sports will be held in Term 1 next year. This is for girls with experience in that sport who wish to be considered for representative teams. Please keep training going through the holidays so that you are ready for these trials. More information on these will be available soon.
Friends of Sport:
Please consider joining this organisation. This small but active group helps raise money to support sport and physical activity opportunities at Fairholme College. FOS only meets once a year. Next year’s date is Wednesday 25 January. The meeting begins at 7pm in the gym foyer. See you there!
TSSS Term 1 Sport and Activities:
Please come prepared for the start of Term 1, 2014. We will be going straight into Sport Trials and Activities. Sports are: Football (must have shinguards), Softball (must have shorts or knickerbockers), Hockey (must have shinguards and mouthguard), Volleyball, Netball and Friday Night Basketball. Different sports are offered in Term 2.
Activities are: Athletics, Gymnastics, Equestrian (must have own horse), Weights, Pilates, Yoga, Self Defence, Spinning, Cycling, Dance, Deep Water Running and Walking. There are no extra charges for these sports and activities. A sport and activities sign up email will be sent to you on Monday 20 January. Please choose carefully - you will not be able to change once your selection has been made.
Association Sport 2014:
We offer the following sports at Association level: Futsal, Volleyball, Basketball, Netball, Football, Touch, Water Polo, Softball, Cricket and Hockey. Teams play in local association competitions in Toowoomba. Fixture times vary depending on the sport. There are fees and charges associated with these sports. These include transport costs. These will be charged to your term account.
We will be holding musters for some of these sports on Saturdays February 1, 8 and 15 starting from 9am.
We will be attending the Sacre Coeur tournament hosted by Downlands College on the weekend of February 8 and 9. Other schools participating are Stuartholme and Clayfield. A selection trial will be held on the College courts on Saturday 1 February from 1pm.
Wednesday Afternoon House Sport:
For the last few weeks our Yrs7-10 have been enthusiastically participating in Interhouse Sport. They have been playing Netball, Touch, Football and Volleyball. The winner of this competition was Cameron House. Congratulations! These results are added into other house competition points that go towards the Interhouse Trophy that is presented at the Presenting Fairholme Evening.
Local identity, Pop Dickerson, is running his popular annual Supercamp again these holidays. The camp caters for Basketball and Soccer and will run from January 12 to 16. Ages are 6 to 18yrs. To register phone 4637 9244 or visit the Supercamp web site
