Scholarships

The Fairholme College Board offers:

Fairholme Junior School studentsAcademic Scholarships to current and prospective students for Years 6, 7, 8 and 10. These scholarships, for tuition only, are awarded on the basis of results from an annual scholarship examination.

General Scholarships to current and prospective students for Years 6, 7, 8 and 10. These scholarships are awarded for tuition only, to students with all round ability and a proven special talent in a particular area such as sport or music. The value and duration of the scholarship is at the discretion of the board.

Music Scholarships:

  1. The Marjorie Milliken Music Scholarship is awarded to a girl entering Year 7 for the duration of 6 years.
  2. The Bob Balsillie Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a girl entering Year 10 for the duration of 3 years.
  3. The Lindsay Statham Memorial Music Scholarship is awarded to a girl entering Year 11, for 2 years duration.

Isolated Children’s Parents Association Scholarship (ICPA); is reserved for a girl from rural or remote Australia entering year 8 as a boarder, and whose parents are members of the ICPA.

Sport

Fairholme Junior School studentsFairholme Junior offers a first class Sports program supported with modern facilities. Features include a class Physical Education program, a Sports program conducted during school hours, and an extra-curricula program.

Interhouse Sport is keenly contested in athletics, ball-games, dance, cross-country, gymnastics and swimming. The students compete in a range of sports at local, regional, state and national levels.

The sports program begins in Years 1 to 3 with a weekly non-competitive session of mini-games using skills introduced in class Physical Education lessons coupled with specific activities to enhance the sporting skills required for Interhouse activities.

A transitional program at Years 4 and 5 aims to teach the children the necessary skills of the sports played at the Interschool level.

Years 6 participate in Friday afternoon Toowoomba Interschool Sports competitions where sports such as tennis, touch, netball, soccer, softball and cricket are played over three terms.

Fairholme College has also established a number of highly successful sporting clubs. Swimming and tennis have professional coaches based at the College.

Fairholme College provides some of the finest sports facilities in the state, including two heated indoor swimming pools, a multi-purpose gymnasium with a parquetry floor, a well-grassed oval, playing fields and four tennis courts.

The Arts

Fairholme Junior School studentsFairholme Junior extends an exceptional range of programs in Music, Drama, Dance and Art during school time and through the extensive co-curricula program.

Individual and small group tuition is available from specialist teachers for voice, piano, speech and drama and all band and orchestral instruments.

An Instrumental Music program forms part of the Years 3 and 5 class music program. Students gain tuition on a stringed instrument in Year 3 and a brass instrument in Year 5.

There are opportunities to be involved in any of the following:

Highlights include the Performance Evening, Lunchtime Concerts, Fairholme Junior Presentation Morning and the Toowoomba Eisteddfod.
