Enrolment procedure

1. Application for Enrolment
An application for admission can be made by completing the Apply for enrolment online or download the Application for Enrolment form (500KB PDF)

This form is to be accompanied by:

  • An application fee of $110.00 for day and boarding students;
  • An application fee of $132.00 for International students;
  • A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate, passport or extract;
  • A copy of the applicant’s most recent school report or similar indicator of school progress; and…
  • NAPLAN results (Australian students);
  • Full disclosure of any Learning Enhancement (Support or Enrichment) requirements.

2. Consideration and Interview
Upon receipt of the above documents, the Principal, Dr Linda Evans will review the application and if satisfied that the student has a reasonable chance of success at Fairholme College, and there is a vacancy, an interview and tour of the College will be arranged. The arrangement of an interview is not a guarantee of a place at the College. For Junior School or Kindy application, the interview and tour will be conducted by the Head of the Junior School. Boarders will tour the Boarding House with the Head of Boarding, Ms Marguerite Dunne.

Fairholme College expects International students to have a sufficient level of written and spoken English and academic pursuit, to progress in their chosen course. An interview and review of recent school reports, in English, will assist the College in determining that these areas are sufficient for the student to expect a successful outcome at Fairholme College. Depending on the student’s English language ability, the student may be required to successfully complete an ELICOS course. English Language test scores are to be included in the enrolment application.

3. Offer and Confirmation
Following a successful interview, a Letter of Offer and Confirmation of Enrolment is forwarded and signed by the parents of the applicant, formally accepting the offer of a place at the College for the appropriate level and year. This should be returned by the nominated due date. Where wait lists are in place and parents will be advised of this, and the time frames involved, as appropriate. Upon completion of the confirmation, regular correspondence and newsletters will be forwarded to assist a smooth entry into Fairholme. New families will be guided to the parent portal on the College website to complete orientation forms.

International students will be required to sign a written agreement with the College which outlines the CRICOS course for which they are enrolling, associated costs and policies. They will then be issued with an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE), which enables them to make an application for a student visa.

4. Orientation
On the first Saturday of the September school holidays, in the year prior to entry, all new Middle and Senior School students, are brought together for an Orientation morning. New boarders are also invited to stay in the Boarding House with their families the night before. During Orientation, all remaining information such as subject choices, medical and boarding information is collected and Learning Enhancement students are interviewed. Uniforms and books are made available at the Fairholme HOLMEstore ›. New Kindy, Prep and Junior School students will be advised of a separate Orientation morning or evening.

5. Commencement
Boarding students arrive at the College the day prior to classes starting and settle into the Boarding House. A welcome session is held for new Day students on the day prior to classes resuming. Timetables and any other relevant information is given to the girls in the first Pastoral Care Group (PCG) meeting by their PCG teacher. Fairholme Kindy and Junior students also arrive on the morning of the new term, with class teachers providing any necessary information to students and parents.
